Sustained Findings

In 2018 and 2021, Senate Bills 1421 and 16 were passed and signed into law amending Penal Code § 832.7 to allow the public to review sustained findings of police misconduct. Such records must be retained by the employing entity for a minimum of 15 years and, upon request, the employing agency and/or municipality must complete records request within 45 days.
